The Athletics Federation of India is the national governing body for Athletics sport in India, and is responsible for conducting competitions in the country. It was formed in 1943. [ 1 ] It is affiliated to World Athletics and Asian Athletics Association . [ 2 ]
The competition programme features a total of 38 individual Indian Championship athletics events, 19 for men and 19 for women. For each division, there are seven track running events, three obstacle events, four jumps, four throws, and one combined event. [1]

Indian Athletics League is a proposed league in India. It will be organized by Athletics Federation of India. This tournament will also have similarities with 14-leg Diamond League Series. There will be 8 to 10 franchise with each having 2 or 3 foreign players. There will be 8 players per franchise for both Men and Women. [1]
India has participated in the World Indoor Championships in Athletics since its inception in 1985. [ 1 ] [ circular reference ] India is yet to win a medal in the World Indoor Athletics Championships [ 2 ] with athletes appearing in 9 out of 20 championships.
