The plot summary states that Lt. Col. Codman replaced Capt. Jenson. The only thing we know is that Jenson was killed and that Codman soon after joined Patton's staff. A Lt General (3 star) would have several officers in his staff performing different roles and it seems unlikely that a field grade - Lt. Col. would fill the same role as a company ...
