Detective Jason "Jay" Halstead first appears on Chicago Fire as an undercover cop assigned to shadow and take down a local mobster who is harassing Gabriela Dawson, one of the owners of Molly's bar. He requests a transfer to the Intelligence Unit after the assignment ends with him getting shot but successfully arresting the mobster.
Patrick "Pat" Halstead (Louis Herthum) is the late father of Dr. Will Halstead and Detective Jay Halstead. He first appeared in the Season 2 episode "Generation Gap" when Jay calls Will from their childhood house about Pat's heart condition.
