50 lbs isn’t much no. I’m sure you’ve picked up something that heavy or heavier before. It really comes down to the size of whatever it is, bags of feed for animals are 50 pounds, but if you can pop it on your shoulder it's fine, I've moved bags of concrete the same weight but much smaller size.
Yes sir. Work at superstore and lift 50-70 pounds for over half my 8 hours shift. 800-1200 boxes a night usually of varying weights but I always stack then carry boxes making them a lot weighted than they are. The worst is the super wide heavy boxes, I have shorter arms and the grip is awful but the weight is easily manageable
"Heavy" is relevant relative. 50 pounds is heavy for a card. 50 pounds is light for a car. Neither of those depend on my personal ability to lift 50 pounds. But if you have never lifted more than 70 pounds, and that's a new record for you - congrats!
Not being able to lift 50 pounds doesn’t mean you can’t lift 20, 30, or 40 pounds. It doesn’t mean you can’t help unload the truck or help stock – plenty of boxes weighing less than 50 pounds come in on trucks. Setting the bar at this level is arguably sexist when it excludes a huge portion of women but a far smaller portion of men.
The problem is most the jobs I found so far that aren't from websites with user posted job openings don't mention their wages, and even the jobs that do mention their wages and aren't from those websites require either lifting 50 pounds (or even 70!) or having a positive attitude/being a people person (customer service).
Wilderness. I’m an avid hiker, but new to backpacking/camping. I am 6’ 190lbs. I plan on hiking a 9 mile trail & camping for 3 days. All of my gear is ~50lbs. Which apparently is extremely heavy according to everything I’ve seen. I know most people will say I probably don’t need all of it, but I plan on bringing fishing & hunting gear ...
I’ve shipped many rocks in five gallon buckets which normally come in around 50-60 pounds. The cost is normally around $80. The post office will basically take any anything, you could just slap a sticker on the pet wood and send it that way. Pack it securely in a double walled cardboard box or do a box within a box.
If going off program means hitting deadlifts and squats, your programming is trash. The bulk of your heavy work should be in the heavy compound lifts. That, and being concerned with the aesthetics of your arms. Get stronger. Don't dick around with the aesthetic stuff. You can measure weight on the bar.
On AA website it uses 50-lbs and certain dimensions as ok but when you look at what is considered overweight it lists 51-lbs. In your screenshot it says 51-lbs. My guess is your good up to 50.9-lbs. The way it’s worded 50.2 should be ok. But there can be errors between scales and if it rains and your bag gets wet.
Upvoted because this is an unpopular opinion. If somebody can't lift the necessary weight or perform the required phsyical labour for the job it's appropriate and legal to consider them unqualified. Lifting one 50 lb package is different than lifting 100 packages in a day. You can be qualified and still get hurt.
