The First Epistle to the Thessalonians [a] is a Pauline epistle of the New Testament of the Christian Bible. The epistle is attributed to Paul the Apostle, and is addressed to the church in Thessalonica, in modern-day Greece.

In 1 Thessalonians 1:6 Paul refers to the imitation of Christ (and himself) and states: "And ye became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit", whose source is identified in 1 Thessalonians 4:8 as "God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you". I thought 1 Corinthians was considered the first Pauline epistle, and that 1 Thessalonians is perhaps not even Pauline. Perhaps that is old Easton Bible Dictionary information... Zach 22:03, 10 November 2005 (UTC) Easton says "The first epistle to the Thessalonians was the first of all Paul's epistles".
