Harristown State High School is a public high school located in Harristown, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. It was officially opened in 1955. The school currently has approximately 1700 students and is the largest on the Darling Downs. [2] Some of the Harristown State High School buildings are listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. The school was established on 1 January 1982 [5] as Christian Outreach College Toowoomba at the back of Highlands Church, [6] [1] which was founded in 1978. [ 7 ] The school changed its name from Christian Outreach College Toowoomba to Highlands Christian College on 21 January 2019.
In 1869, the school was separated into the Toowoomba South Boys School (number 109) and the Toowoomba South Girls School (number 112). This led to there being two campuses the original on Ruthven Street being the Girls School, the other one block northeast on Neil Street the new Boys School campus (adjacent to the Market Reserve (now Groom Park)).
