May 12, 2024 - During Game 4 of the second round playoff series between the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves Harlan made a call just as the halftime buzzer was sounding. The play resulted from a quick inbound attempt by a Minnesota player from underneath his basket with 1.6 seconds remaining on the clock.
The channel originated sometime in 1982 as WCCO II, a local cable channel owned by Midwest Radio and Television (later Midwest Communications), and created as a project by CBS affiliate WCCO-TV (channel 4, now an owned-and-operated station of the network) that broadcast a slate of local and general entertainment programming. Tom Hanneman (June 29, 1952 – December 18, 2020) was an American play-by-play television announcer for the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and had been with the franchise since its inception in 1989 until he joined Fox Sports North in 2012.
The Timberwolves' games are broadcast primarily on Bally Sports North. But if the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Wild occupy both Bally Sports North and Bally Sports North Extra, the game will be aired on WUCW as Bally Sports North Extra on The CW Twin Cities, and the Bally Sports app for viewers outside of WUCW's coverage area.
