Welwyn Preserve County Park is a 204-acre (0.83 km 2) public nature reserve in Glen Cove, on the North Shore of Long Island in the U.S. state of New York.
In general, the preserve is filled with miles of marked and unmarked nature trails full of trees, flowers, plants, birds, reptiles, and other animals. The county's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Museums have held guided walks in the park before. [2] The dominant soil is an acidic well drained brown loam of the Montauk series. [3]
Norman Levy Park and Preserve was once a landfill but was transformed to a park space in 2000. [1] The park is the highest point on Long Island's South Shore, and has an average altitude of around 120 feet. From this highest point, the New York City Skyline, Jones Beach, and the Oceanside landfill can be seen, along with other locations. [2]
