Tavares (also known as The Tavares Brothers) is an American R&B and soul music group composed of five Cape Verdean-American brothers. Some were born in New Bedford, Massachusetts , [ 1 ] and Providence, Rhode Island , and they would move back and forth between the two cities throughout their childhood.
In 1953, when Chubby was nine, he led a group called "Chubby and the Turnpikes". [4] In 1973, with the lineup of brothers Ralph, Pooch, Chubby, Butch, and Tiny, they changed their name to Tavares. Supercharged is the eighth album by the American soul/R&B group Tavares. [2] It was produced by David Foster, Benjamin Wright and Bobby Colomby, and released in 1980 on Capitol Records. [1] Supercharged is similar in style to the group's previous album Madam Butterfly, although not as highly regarded at its predecessor.
