The Twin Lakes are two adjacent alpine Glacial lakes separated by a narrow strip of land less than 100 ft (30 m) wide in Blaine County, Idaho, United States, located in the Sawtooth Mountains in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The lakes eventually flow into the Salmon River. Sawtooth National Forest trail 092 leads to the twin lakes. [1] [2]

There are hundreds of lakes in the Sawtooth Mountains, most of which have been created by alpine glaciers. The majority of the lakes are within the Sawtooth Wilderness, but several are not yet still within Sawtooth National Recreation Area The largest lakes are Redfish, Alturas, Pettit, Yellow Belly, Stanley, and Sawtooth lakes. [1]
The lakes flow into the river via Redfish Lake Creek. Besides the red-scaled salmon that come to this lake, Little Redfish Lake also has a clay pit , located at the bottom of the lake. In 1961, Richard Brautigan wrote portions of his novella Trout Fishing in America while camping near the lake, which is featured in several chapters of the book.

Yellow Belly Lake is an alpine lake in Custer County, Idaho, United States, located in the Sawtooth Valley in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.The lake is approximately 15 miles (24 km) south of Stanley and 34 miles (55 km) northwest of Ketchum.
