Busniuk returned to the Maine Mariners for the 1981–82 season. He would split the next three seasons playing in the AHL and in Europe with HC Brunico in the Italian Serie A league. Busniuk won a fifth Calder Cup playing with the Mariners in the 1983–84 season.
