Timberline Lodge is a National Historic Landmark located on the southern flank of Mount Hood just below Palmer Glacier, with an elevation of about 6,000 ft (1,800 m). [10] The mountain has four ski areas: Timberline, Mount Hood Meadows, Ski Bowl, and Cooper Spur.
Mount Hood Summer Ski Camps have been a mainstay in the summer, hosting campers since the 1970s. The summer camps are mostly organized as week-long sessions, with on-snow activities in the morning and a variety of other activities in the afternoon, such as river rafting, mountain biking, hiking, trampoline, wind surfing, etc. [10]
Since volcanic peaks in the range are quite high—more than 11,000 feet (3,400 m) in the case of Mount Hood [4] —most of the remaining Pacific moisture falls here in the form of rain or snow. [2] The remaining two-thirds of the state is relatively dry, classified as semi-arid, with large areas receiving no more than 12 inches (300 mm) a year.
The heaviest snow will fall in areas near and just west of the Interstate 95 corridor from the mid-Atlantic to New England. Storm totals in these areas through Sunday night could be 3 to 8 inches.
