Leonard Smith (born August 29, 1942) is an American singer, songwriter, and music publisher. [1]His style of gospel-centered songs range from pop to folk to gospel. Smith is best known in Christian music circles for writing the international worship standard "Our God Reigns" [2] [3] in 1973.
"Our God Reigns" is a song by the Christian contemporary-alternative rock musician Brandon Heath from his first studio album, Don't Get Comfortable. It was digitally released in 2006, as the first single from the album. [1] This song was produced by Dan Muckala. (This is not the original “Our God Reigns” written in the 70s by Lenny Smith).
God He Reigns reached No. 2 on the Australian album charts and the DVD hit No. 1. Initially, there was doubt as to the commercial success of the album as the release coincided with the release of new albums by Guy Sebastian and Paulini, but in that week more copies of God He Reigns were sold than every other CD in Australia combined (including pop charts, alternative, rock, et cetera).
The album's first single, "Our God Reigns", received a Dove Award nomination in 2007. Heath's song "I'm Not Who I Was" became No. 1 single, staying on top of Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart for several weeks. It received two Dove nominations, including "Song of the Year". Heath returned in mid-2008 with a second project: What If We.
