Surra is a residential area located in the Capital Governorate in Kuwait City, Kuwait. It is located west of Jabriya and east of Qurtuba. It has six residential blocks and is considered home to about 35,366 persons. [1] Its southern section is in Hawalli Governorate. The word "Surra" is an Arabic word meaning "navel".
The area is governed by Mirpur DOHS (Defence Officers' Housing Scheme) parishad.It is the largest in the country with a total of 1290 individual lots. [6] The Government of Bangladesh allocated 37 lots to the relatives of 37 officers killed in the 2009 Bangladesh Rifles Mutiny and an additional 20 apartments were allocated to ten families, 2 each.
