Arizona State University (Arizona State or ASU) is a public research university [8] in Tempe, Arizona, United States. [9] Founded in 1885 as Territorial Normal School by the 13th Arizona Territorial Legislature , the university is one of the largest public universities by enrollment in the United States. [ 10 ]
Tuition and fees do not include the cost of housing and food. For most students in the US, the cost of living away from home, whether in a dorm room or by renting an apartment, would exceed the cost of tuition and fees. By 1917 the Agricultural Workers Organization had close to 20,000 members. In this same year the AWO was renamed the Agricultural Workers Industrial Union (AWIU). Even though the AWIU coincided in the midst of the Red Scare and World War One, the AWIU's membership still continued to grow reaching 25,000 members by 1921.
The College of Public Programs was founded at Arizona State University's Tempe campus on April 21, 1979. [4] The college's establishment was part of the university's reorganization of several departments within other colleges. In 2012, the school announced plans to relocate to Arizona State University Downtown Phoenix campus.
