Allegiant Air is an American ultra-low cost airline headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.The airline focuses on serving leisure traffic from small and medium-sized cities which it considers to be underserved, using an ultra low-cost business model with minimal inclusions in fares and a greater number of add-on fees.
Allegiant Air ' s scheduled destinations (excluding charter operations) are listed below. Its reservation system does not allow travelers to book multi-segment flights (for example, Oakland to Cleveland via Phoenix even though the airline operates both sectors).
Allegiant Air was founded in 1997 [4] and is the ninth-largest commercial airline in the United States as of January 2020. [14] Part of Allegiant Air's business model includes earning commissions by selling passengers ancillary items like rental cars, hotel rooms, tickets to events, amusement park passes, and other add-ons. [5]
Gallagher also was a member of the investment group that founded ValuJet Airlines, Inc. (one of the predecessors to AirTran Airways, Inc.) and served as a board member of ValuJet from its inception in 1993 until 1997. [5] Gallagher is the Chairman of Allegiant Travel Company, and its major subsidiary, Allegiant Air.
Vision Airlines and Direct Air ended all service to PGD in 2012. Shortly after the collapse of Direct Air, Allegiant grew their PGD presence from three to seven cities and started basing aircraft full-time at the airport. Allegiant continues to grow at PGD; by the end of 2015, Allegiant served 29 destinations from PGD.
Originally designed and operated by airlines, CRSs were later extended for use by travel agencies, and global distribution systems (GDSs) to book and sell tickets for multiple airlines. Most airlines have outsourced their CRSs to GDS companies, [ 1 ] which also enable consumer access through Internet gateways.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, a significant proportion of airline tickets were sold by travel agents. Flights by the airline owning the reservation system had preferential display on the computer screen.
