Media/Wawa Line trains use the West Chester Branch, a former Pennsylvania Railroad line, which diverges from the SEPTA Main Line at 30th Street Station. At Arsenal Interlocking, just south of Penn Medicine , there is a junction with Amtrak's Northeast Corridor where Airport and Wilmington/Newark trains diverge.

The branch was composed of rail lines built by two companies in the 19th century. One portion, a 9-mile (14 km) line from West Chester to Malvern, was built after 1831 by the West Chester Railroad. [3] The PRR leased the line in 1859, [4] and moved the Malvern end to a junction at Frazer in 1880. The PRR acquired the West Chester Railroad in 1903.

Wawa station is a commuter rail station on the SEPTA Regional Rail Media/Wawa Line, located adjacent to U.S. Route 1 in Middletown Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.The original station was built by the West Chester and Philadelphia Railroad and later served the Pennsylvania Railroad's West Chester Branch, which finally became SEPTA's R3 line (later renamed to the "Media/Elwyn Line").
In September 2021, SEPTA officials proposed to rebrand its rail transit services to make the system easier to navigate. The lines included the Market–Frankford Line, Broad Street Line, subway–surface trolley lines, Norristown High Speed Line, Route 15 trolley, and Media–Sharon Hill Line.
Media station was built in 1960 by the PRR and is located several blocks away from Media–Orange Street station, the terminus of the Route 101 line.
