Spruce Run Recreation Area is a 1,290-acre (5.2 km 2) New Jersey state recreation area located in Union Township and Clinton Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. It encompasses the Spruce Run Reservoir that is used as a backup reservoir to protect the state from prolonged droughts.
Spruce Run is a tributary of the Raritan River in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It starts from the southwestern slope of Schooley's Mountain, northeast of Anthony in Lebanon Township, and flows southwest toward Glen Gardner. [2] It then flows south toward Clinton, where it joins the South Branch Raritan River.
The park is operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry. In June 2011, William Arias, 46, of Bound Brook, New Jersey was killed by a falling tree while sleeping in a tent in the upper river section of the Bulls Island campground.

The core of the park was purchased in 1963. Additional land was purchased in the 1970s. [5] In May 1993, the Park System acquired 303-acre (123 ha) Camp Nomoco including a 56-acre (23 ha) campground from the Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts to add it to Turkey Swamp Park.
