Edited 2 years ago. I read a study today that says 40% of patients feel mild to moderate pain a year after an episode of AD. I also read that improvement after diagnosis and treatment of AD can take 6 months in some cases. Also, Approx 10% of people with AD have been shown to need more than 6 months to recover.
Guest frank83984. Unfortunately it seems you were not given enough antibiotics at the beginning, so the infection lingered on. Flagyl and Cipro are nasty with bad side effects which also make you feel rough. Because this has dragged on so long, your insides have taken a real battering and will take a long time to heal.

I was diagnosed with suspected diverticulitis 10th Feb this year. Had pain like I've never had before all in lower left stomach. Had constipation which I don't get and fever. Pain so bad I couldn't take a deep breath or laugh or walk well or move basically! Was given 7 days of co-amoxiclav and co codamol, they nearly kept me in hospital.
Glenda, good to hear of your results and amazing recovery. I've been advised to have the surgery as well, and am scheduled to see a supposed renowned "best around" surgeon who specializes in colon resection via robotic/laparoscopic methods. Needless to say, I am very frightened. The flareups have been coming on more frequent and longer intensity.

The constant Diverticulitis extreme nausea and pain are gone. Just follow the soft diet for 6 weeks, walk alot & drink lots of fluids. It will take weeks to recover but definitely worth it. At least you can recover from surgery. Do your homework and don't be afraid to ask questions.
