Posted October 5, 2008. Graham Smith said: Stippling is forever. In practical terms, that means that stippling is a permanent alteration to the frame which may disqualify the pistol for some sports and may effect the resale price for the same reason. Grip tape, on the other hand, comes off if you don't want it. +1.

The black diamond grip tape is the best I've found, it will stay put for several months even with heavy dry fire. If you want it pre-cut you can get them from Dawson Precision (3 for $15) or you can buy rolls of the black diamond skateboard tape and cut your own.

My thoughts are 1) Try different skate board tape. 2) Clean the area with something that absolutely will not leave any residue. 3) Your grip panels are not smooth so you are loosing a lot of area for adhesive to stick. 4) Sand paper my be leaving fine material that the BrakeKleen does completely remove.

I usually wrap the tape around my gun and rubber band, shock-cord, or para-cord in place and leave for a few hours (this is before removing the backing just to get the shape of the grip), then gently heat with a blow-dryer and apply as directed. Then re-wrap and leave overnight.
