Joliet Junior College (JJC) is a public community college in Joliet, Illinois. Founded in 1901, it was the first public community college founded in the United States. A junior college is a type of post-secondary institution that offers vocational and academic training that is designed to prepare students for either skilled trades and technical occupations or support roles in professions such as engineering, accountancy, business administration, nursing, medicine, architecture, and criminology.
The founding members of 1970 were the College of Du Page, Illinois Valley Community College, Joliet Junior College, Morton College, Rock Valley College, and Thornton Community College. [1] [2] The conference dissolved at the end of the 2022–23 school year. [3]
