Wide Bay–Burnett is a region of the Australian state of Queensland, located between 170–400 km (110–250 mi) north of the state capital, Brisbane. The area's population growth has exceeded the state average over the past 20 years, and it is forecast to grow to more than 430,000 by 2031.

The D'Aguilar Highway leads south east, while the Bunya Highway enters the region from the south west. The Wide Bay Highway connects to Gympie and the Bruce Highway towards the coast and the Burnett Highway continues north of the region. The Brisbane Valley railway line reached Blackbutt in 1905. The line was closed in the 1993. [2]
This was the turning point for the Maryborough and Wide Bay Region, and the number of passengers from the Ariadne swelled the population of Maryborough by one third. [8] Between 1863 and 1870 there were 3,142 arrivals; from 1872 to 1880, 9,164 arrived (of which 1762 were Germans and Scandinavians) and between 1881 and 1890, 7,332 migrants landed.
The town is in the Wide Bay–Burnett region on the Burnett Highway, 363 kilometres (226 mi) north west of the state capital, Brisbane, 209 kilometres (130 mi) north of Dalby and 200 kilometres (120 mi) west of the regional centre, Bundaberg. The Mundubbera-Durong Road exits to the south. [6] Mundubbera is built on the bank on the Burnett River.

Football Queensland Wide Bay is the regional office of Football Queensland servicing the areas between the Sunshine Coasty and Central Queensland, including major centres such as Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and Monto.
