Quadrophenia is the sixth studio album by the English rock band the Who, released as a double album on 26 October 1973 [4] by Track Records. It is the group's third rock opera , the previous two being the "mini-opera" song " A Quick One, While He's Away " (1966) and the album Tommy (1969).
A version of the album was released on CD in 2000 (as Music from the Soundtrack of the Who Film Quadrophenia) restoring the track listing to its original configuration, and adding "I'm the Face" to the running order. After Townshend became weary of the group, they split in 1983. The Who occasionally re-formed for live appearances such as Live Aid in 1985, a 25th-anniversary tour in 1989 with Simon Phillips on drums and a tour of Quadrophenia in 1996–1997. A full reunion began in 1999, with drummer Zak Starkey.
