Ellensburg is a city in and the county seat of Kittitas County, Washington, United States. It is located just east of the Cascade Range near the junction of Interstate 90 and Interstate 82 . The population was 18,666 at the 2020 census .

[3] Kittitas County comprises the Ellensburg, Washington, Micropolitan Statistical Area. There are numerous interpretations of the county's name, which is from the language of the Yakama Nation.
Kaynor bought Zimmerman's share in 1912 and continued as the paper's sole publisher for nearly fifty years. The paper's name was changed to The Ellensburg Daily Record on April 23, 1938, and on March 14, 1973, the paper became simply The Daily Record to reflect its expanded focus on all of Kittitas County, Washington.
