Kundala Valley Railway was the first monorail system in India, later converted to a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow-gauge railway, that operated between Kundala Valley in Munnar, Idukki district of Kerala and Top Station in Theni district of Tamil Nadu, India. [1] The railway line had 35 km length. [2]
It falls under the Malda railway division of the Eastern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. It is connected to Indian cities of Patna, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Jasidih and Dumka through daily Passenger and Express trains. As of October 2016, four Passenger trains and one Express train originate and just as many depart from the railway station. [3]
