The Captain Whidbey Inn, a lodging and hospitality establishment built in 1907, is located on Whidbey Island at the west end of Penn Cove just outside Coupeville, Washington. It is part of the National Register of Historic Places listed Central Whidbey Island Historic District .

Greenbank Farm was founded in 1904 by Calvin Philips and his family as a model dairy farm with to goal of bringing commerce to Whidbey Island. The now iconic barn was built the same year. [ 1 ] In 1906, 125 acres of land was cleared along what is currently Highway 20 to make room for the expanding cattle herd.
