The Garden District is a neighborhood of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.A subdistrict of the Central City/Garden District Area, its boundaries as defined by the New Orleans City Planning Commission are: St. Charles Avenue to the north, 1st Street to the east, Magazine Street to the south, and Toledano Street to the west.
The New Orleans and Carrollton Railroad, also incorporated in 1833, constructed a spur from the main line along Nyades Street (now St. Charles Avenue) down Jackson Avenue. [6] Lafayette annexed Faubourg Delassize in 1844, bringing that city's boundary with New Orleans to Toledano Street. [ 7 ]
Roughly bounded by St. Charles Ave., Jackson St., the Mississippi River, and Annunciation and Race Sts.; also roughly the southern side of St. Charles Ave. between U.S. Route 90 and Josephine St. and two parcels on the southern side of Annunciation St.
