Mornington is a seaside town of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia located on the Mornington Peninsula 46 km (29 mi) south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District. It is the most populous town in the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area .

Mornington Cemetery is a cemetery serving the Mornington Peninsula area of Melbourne. It is located at 40 Craigie Rd, Mount Martha. [1] The cemetery was first Surveyed in 1855, and was originally called the Mt. Martha Cemetery, then the Moorooduc Cemetery. It contains a number of pioneer graves for the district. [2]
The Mount Eliza Road District (centred on Frankston) was created on 6 November 1860, and became a shire on 24 November 1871. On 31 May 1893, it was renamed the Shire of Frankston and Hastings, while its western riding was severed and named New Mornington, to avoid confusion with the previous entity.
