The Surrey Advertiser and the Woking News & Mail were acquired by Surrey and Berkshire Media, a branch of the Guardian Media Group. However, The Surrey Advertiser and associated papers were sold to Trinity Mirror in April while the latter title and the Review series are the only regional paper that remain with the Guardian Media Group.

His Obituary noted that; whilst at Oxted Mr Master took a great interest in local affairs. He was Lord of The Manor of Oxted and patron of the Living. He presented Master Park to the Village. He was a Justice of the Peace and a Deputy-Lieutenant for the county of Surrey, and in 1901 was High Sheriff.
