Moss is an adventure game viewed from the third-person perspective using the VR (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, PSVR) headset. The player is shown in the game as a masked face and orb. Unlike most games, Quill is aware of the player (the Reader). The player controls Quill, navigating environments and battling enemies.
MOSS allowed the user to store both vector and raster in the same geospatial database. The vector data could be points, lines, or polygons. MOSS utilized what at the time was referred to as a "full polygon" representation. In a full polygon representation, each polygon vertex shared with another polygon. Polygons could have islands (holes).
Moss was released on September 23, 2022, as a digital download, for streaming, and on CD and vinyl LP formats. An exclusive release of Moss was also available from Urban Outfitters as a translucent pink vinyl LP. [9] A translucent orange LP is available from Maya Hawke's official website. [10]
A sequel to Moss, the game follows Quill as she ventures though the land to battle the arcane to save the land of Moss. Moss: Book II was released in March 2022 for PlayStation 4 via PlayStation VR [1] before receiving Meta Quest 2 and Windows ports later that year. [2] A PlayStation 5 version via PlayStation VR2 was released in February 2023. [3]
