The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) is the governing body for sports competitions among all public and some private high schools in the state of Maine. It is a member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. The MPA offices are located in Augusta.
Another reason was the MPA's failed four division format where Eastern and Western Maine were split into north–south divisions. That format lasted one year. Lewiston competes in Maine's Class A division for sports, the highest class in the state (except for basketball, which competes in AA), as governed by the Maine Principals' Association. Lewiston is also a member of the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference. The school is particularly known for its cheerleading and boys soccer teams.
