Moorhead (/ ˈ m ɔːr h ɛ d / MOR-hed) [7] is a city in and the county seat of Clay County, Minnesota, United States, [8] on the banks of the Red River of the North.Located in the Red River Valley, an extremely fertile and active agricultural region, Moorhead is also home to several corporations and manufacturing industries. The Fargo–Moorhead area is defined by the Census Bureau as comprising all of Cass County, North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota, which includes the cities of Dilworth, Minnesota, West Fargo, North Dakota, and numerous other towns and developments from which commuters travel daily for work, education, and regular activities.

Fargo, along with its twin city of Moorhead, Minnesota, form the core of the Fargo–Moorhead metropolitan statistical area, which had a population of 248,591 in 2020.
As of the census of 2000, there were 442 people, 153 households, and 132 families residing in the township. The population density was 23.3 people per square mile (9.0/km 2). There were 160 housing units at an average density of 8.5/sq mi (3.3/km 2). The racial makeup of the township was 99.10% White, 0.23% Asian, and 0.68% from two or more races.
