The Anna Ruby Falls Scenic Area is a 1,600-acre (6 km 2) area around Anna Ruby Falls and is part of the Chattahoochee National Forest, though access is only through Unicoi State Park. The U.S. Forest Service leases it to the non-profit Cradle of Forestry. The Cradle of Forestry accepts the "Golden Age" pass allowing seniors in free, with pass.

Unicoi State Park & Lodge is a 1,050-acre (4.2 km 2) state park (est. in 1954) located immediately north-northeast of Helen, Georgia in the northeastern portion of the state. The centerpiece of the park is 53-acre (21 ha) Unicoi Lake on Smith Creek. The park is especially popular in October, when the autumn leaves in the forest change colors. [1]

The trailhead is accessed via Indian Grave Gap Road (Forest Service Road 283), a gravel road located about 11.5 miles north of Helen, GA on GA Highway 17/75. The road fords a shallow creek about 100 yards from the entrance at GA Highway 17/75 , but the ford does not require a four-wheel drive vehicle to cross under normal conditions.
