Iroh (listed as Uncle in onscreen credits) is a fictional character in Nickelodeon's animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender.Created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the character was voiced by Mako in the first two seasons and, due to Mako's death, by Greg Baldwin in the third season and the sequel series The Legend of Korra.
Zuko and his family meet with Firelord Azulon, and Ozai presents his case to his father that he should be the next Firelord instead of Iroh. Azulon, enraged by the proposition of betraying Iroh after the demise of his only child Lu Ten, orders Ozai to kill Zuko to feel the pain of losing a son.

Ozai accidentally causes Aang to enter the Avatar State by knocking him into a rock that pierces his lightning wound, unlocking his chakras. Aang easily overwhelms Ozai, yet still refuses to kill him, instead harnessing "energybending", learned from the lion turtle, to permanently strip Ozai of his firebending abilities and render him powerless.
Aang and Ozai battle, but Aang still can't bring himself to kill his foe. When Ozai accidentally unlocks Aang's blocked chakras by striking his back scar, [e] the latter enters the Avatar State [f] and prepares a death blow, only to stop himself. Remembering the Lion Turtle's lesson, he permanently depowers Ozai by bending his chi, ending the war.

Zuko attempts to save Zhao from Aang, but Zhao is too proud to accept Zuko's help. Zuko survives the battle with help from Iroh, who betrayed Zhao to protect the ocean and moon spirits. In retaliation for Iroh's betrayal and Zuko's failure to capture the Avatar, Ozai assigns Zuko's younger sister Azula to capture Zuko and Iroh.
