Inverness Airport is located 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the city limits, next to the Citrus County Speedway. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office's aviation unit operates from this airport. U.S. Route 41 is the main north-south road through Inverness, leading north 17 miles (27 km) to Dunnellon and south 21 miles (34 km) to Brooksville.
