Surface Go 2 models ship with a pre-installed 64-bit version of Windows 10 Home in S Mode and a 30-day trial of Microsoft 365. Users may only install software from Windows Store. Users can opt out of the S Mode of the OS and upgrade to Home for free or Pro for a fee and be able to install apps from outside the Windows Store.
It was the first generation of the Surface Go. In May 2020, the Surface Go was superseded by the Surface Go 2. The device runs Windows 10 Home in S-Mode and features a 5MP front facing camera, an infrared camera, 8 MP rear camera, a NFC chip and a kickstand supporting an angle of up to 165°.
The complicated part is that Microsoft itself never actually considered Windows 10 S a separate operating system — the company always thought of it as Windows 10 with "S Mode" enabled.
The Surface Go 3 is the third generation model of the Surface Go series of devices, introduced as the successor to the Surface Go 2 by Microsoft at their Surface Event on September 22, 2021. [1] It was announced by the company alongside the Surface Laptop Studio , Surface Pro 8 , Surface Duo 2 and many Surface accessories. [ 2 ]
The Surface Go 4 For Business is the fourth generation model of the Surface Go series of devices, targeted at businesses rather than consumers, introduced as the successor to the Surface Go 3 For Business by Microsoft at their Surface Event on September 21, 2023. [1] The tablet runs Windows 11 Pro.
