The simplest way to format sortable dates in a table is to use the {{Date table sorting}} template. A redirect: {} It can be used with many date formats mixed together . See Template:Date table sorting for more info. In the tables below, all columns sort correctly.

Lists and tables are two different ways to format multiple, similar items on a page. Lists and HTML tables go back to Wikipedia's early days. The current wikicode tables (see the section about tables), which you can edit more easily and even sort, came later.
You can add a table using HTML rather than wiki markup, as described at HTML element#Tables. However, HTML tables are discouraged because wikitables are easier to customize and maintain, as described at manual of style on tables. Also, note that the <thead>, <tbody>, <tfoot>, <colgroup>, and <col> elements are not supported in wikitext.
