After assisting the Autobots in a fight against an army of Unicron's stone avatars, Megatron forms an uneasy alliance with his enemies to defeat Unicron and save the Earth from destruction. The Autobots and Megatron then travel to the Earth's core, planning to send Unicron back into stasis using the Matrix of Leadership.
Starscream then makes a deal with Unicron to restore the latter's sight and body by stealing the eyes of Metroplex and transformation cog of Trypticon, and wiring Unicron's head to Cybertron. Starscream successfully accomplishes most of this, however, when he can no longer possess Scourge, he demands that Unicron restore his own, original body ...
Just then, Unicron heads for Cybertron. Hot Shot and Wheeljack head out in fighters but do little damage. Thrust gloats and demands Unicron attack but is instead ambushed by the transformers fighters. Hoist finds a weak point on Unicron's neck and so an attack is made. Unicron opens his chest and fires his cannon, destroying a portion of Cybertron.
