Access is essentially a curb-to-curb, shared ride paratransit service that requires reservations the day before you would like to ride. Access is comparable to buses and trains in Los Angeles County including days and times of service as well as service area. Service is provided within 3/4 mile on either side of a fixed route bus or rail line.
4 Easy Steps to Access Eligibility. Eligibility for Access is based on the person with a disability's ability to use accessible buses and trains in Los Angeles County, not solely based on the disability, age, or medical diagnosis. It is determined through an in-person Transit Evaluation.
Access is a curb-to-curb shared-ride service. Several riders will be transported at one time in the same vehicle. It is not cab service, emergency medical or social service transportation, and is not door-to-door or a private transportation service.
As an Access customer, you are eligible for the Free Fare program, so you can ride most bus and rail systems within Los Angeles County, including Metrolink, for free. Just present your green Access Rider ID Card as fare when you board.
