In a referendum held on September 25, 2007, by a 65-35% margin, voters approved a plan to construct a third high school in the district, to be located in Egg Harbor City and constructed at a cost of $81.7 million (equivalent to $120.1 million in 2023); the new facility was intended to alleviate overcrowding at Absegami High School and Oakcrest High School. The school now has a few different logos. The primary logo is a more detailed version of the previous “GH.” The primary logo is an artistic rendition of “GH” for “Gig Harbor.”
