Revelstoke Mountain Resort (RMR) is a ski resort on Mount Mackenzie, just outside Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. It is owned by Northland Properties . Currently, the resort has a 1,710 metres (5,620 ft) vertical drop, the longest vertical descent of any ski resort in North America.

Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains west to Arrow Lakes which is a reservoir of the Columbia River. Mount Cartier is more notable for its steep rise above local terrain than for its absolute elevation as topographic relief is significant with the summit rising 2,174 meters (7,133 ft) above Upper Arrow Lake in 5 km (3.1 mi).
Mount English was named to remember George Melville English (1918–1943), a Canadian Army Sergeant from Revelstoke. [4] He served with the Royal Canadian Artillery, but he died September 15, 1943, age 24, in an automobile accident. [1] The mountain's toponym was officially adopted April 29, 1965, by the Geographical Names Board of Canada. [3]

Established in 1914, its creation came later than the other mountain national parks which date to the 1880s. The initiative to establish a park was led by local residents of Revelstoke; the mountaineering and skiing clubs worked with municipal officials and the local Progress Club to build the first trail to the summit of Mount Revelstoke in 1910.
