Manado (Indonesian pronunciation:, Tombulu: Wenang) is the capital city of the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi.It is the second largest city in Sulawesi after Makassar, with the 2020 census giving a population of 451,916, [3] and the official estimates for mid 2023 showing 458,582 inhabitants (229,982 males and 228,600 females), [1] distributed over a land area of 157.26 km 2. Further autonomy was given through the declaration that Aceh was a "special region" on 23 May 1959, later formalized through Law no. 18 of 1965. Following the fall of Suharto, Law no. 44 of 1999 and Law no. 18 of 2001 created a new framework that was adopted by both parties through Law no. 11 of 2006.
