The academic programs at Crofton House School are very rigorous and only select students may participate in accelerated courses. The senior school operates on a rotating 8-day 8-block cycle, with four 80-minute blocks each day. Until the 2010-2011 school year, the Senior School year was divided into three terms.

Ideal School was established in 1972 by teacher Garry Nixon, a teacher at St. George's School.It was intended to be an independent, alternative high school. The Province reported that "[t]o be admitted, boys and girls must convince Nixon they sincerely want to learn and are willing to work harder than would be required in other schools", and that it would cost $60 a month in fees. The school offers a university preparatory program for girls in grades 8 through 12. In 2016 Little Flower Academy ranked as the number one Secondary Schools in the province of British Columbia (2019), [1] and has a top three standing in the Fraser Institute provincial rankings.
The coat of arms was inaugurated in the presence of British Columbia Lieutenant Governor, David C. Lam, on April 28, 1993. It was a gift from the York House Alumnae on the 60th anniversary of the school. Motto "Not for Ourselves Alone" was chosen as the school motto by the founders and is a guiding principle for life at York House and beyond.
St. Patrick Regional Secondary School is classified as a Group 1 school under British Columbia's Independent School Act. It receives 50% funding from the Ministry of Education.
