Isuzu developed the first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engine series with low-emissions truck mounted with a clean CNG engine emitting zero black smoke. The 4HF1-CNG is a CNG engine of 4.334 L capacity (as based on direct injection diesel engine) with non-contact ignition system. Peak torque is 323 Nm, peak power is 120 PS (88 kW) at 1,500 rpm.
In August 2007 Isuzu and Toyota agreed to develop a 1.6-liter diesel engine for use in Toyota vehicles sold in European markets. Isuzu released the 4-tonne (8,800 lb) TY-series in May 1966. This semi-cabover design was Isuzu's first medium-duty truck. The original engine fitted was the D370, a 3.6 L (3,644 cc) inline-six diesel engine with 100 PS (74 kW). The types were TY20, TY30, and TY40 depending on the length of the chassis.
The DMAX V6 engine is a 3.0 L; 180.5 cu in (2,958 cc) diesel engine. It was designed, and is produced by Isuzu in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, Japan but the design rights to the engine are now owned by General Motors.
