Rhyl (/ r ɪ l /; Welsh: Y Rhyl, pronounced [ə ˈr̥ɨl]) is a seaside town and community in Denbighshire in Wales. The town lies on the coast of North Wales , at the mouth of the River Clwyd . To the west is Kinmel Bay and Towyn , to the east Prestatyn , and to the south-east Rhuddlan and St Asaph .
The constituency was created in 1997 from the seats of Clwyd North West, Clwyd South West and Delyn. It wasin the north of Wales, containing the seaside town of Prestatyn and its coastal neighbour Rhyl which is overlooked by the community of Rhuddlan. It also contained the inland towns of Denbigh, St Asaph, Bodelwyddan, Trefnant and Tremeirchion.

The former ward of Rhyl South East was divided, following the local government boundary review, into Rhyl Trellewellyn and Rhyl Ty Newydd, with an overall increase of councillors from three to four. The two wards match the boundaries of the Trellewellyn and Ty Newydd wards to Rhyl Town Council. [8]
