Begin by creating a rectangle and using the pen or line tool create a line from the top of the rectangle to the bottom at an angle. Next using the move tool while holding down Alt drag and copy the line. Then using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D or going through the menu. Transform again until the lines fill up the rectangle.
3. I have a white line. When I switch from basic to dashed line 1.1, the line turns gray. Paintbucketing the line just makes it a basic line again. It's a little tricky but make a single line with a stroke and large dashes. Add another stroke in the Appearance panel and make it dots using the rounded end cap. By using multiples of the space and dash it will give something like this. Then make it into a Graphic Style. You could make a brush.
I found the best solution for this problem : 1- create a single line i.e. 12pt long 1pt thick. 2- make a pattern brush from the line. 3- In pattern brush options dialog box, put 50% in spacing box. 4- apply the pattern brush to your desired shape. 5- you can still adjust the gaps in spacing box and hit apply to stroke.
Change your Dash Line Settings in Stroke panel. By default the first box should read 12 pt and all other boxes should remain blank. Then you can adjust the dash style as you wish. Add a comment. I found just closing and restarting Illustrator, then unchecking and rechecking the box for Dashed Line worked.

Make a perfect square as your background. Space the diagonal lines so that they divide the square evenly. (I used a 2 inch square and 1/4 inch spaced lines) answered Jun 16, 2017 at 17:17. I must be doing something wrong, it works but its not perfectly seamless.
Dashed Line Stroke. transform effect. First create a circle. Then create a vertical line. use the rotate tool (R) and alt click the center of the circle. Specify the angle and then click copy. hold down Command + D and repeat it until it makes a full circle. Example: This works with any path or shape.
It can be done with 1 line with two strokes (via Appearance). I believe the key to making it work is to use a gap to create an empty space for the 2nd color. After last Illustrator update i've faced an Issue with Line tool, particulary with Dashed Line option.
