Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology is one of the engineering colleges in Bangalore. The institute is located on the outer Ring Road, Near Jnanabharathi Campus, Mallathahalli, Bangalore on a vast 20.30 acres of land having several buildings, lawns, trees etc. The total built up area of these buildings is 39,619 sq. meters.

This college has been renamed as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology in 2010, when engineering degree courses were introduced. The institute was one of the first technical institute in the country to get ISO 9000 accreditation way back in 1999, which was subsequently upgraded to 9001:2008 standards.

He started the college in 1917 in Bangalore as a School of Engineering with 20 students in Civil and Mechanical Engineering branches in the PWD building. S V Setty was a founding professor. It was the fifth engineering college to be started in India and the first one in the Mysore State .
