Royal Leamington Spa, commonly known as Leamington Spa or simply Leamington [note 1] (/ ˈ l ɛ m ɪ ŋ t ən / ⓘ), is a spa town and civil parish in Warwickshire, England.Originally a small village called Leamington Priors, it grew into a spa town in the 18th century following the popularisation of its water which was reputed to have medicinal qualities. [2]
IAPS was founded in 1892, as the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools. In 1981 IAPS merged with the Association of Headmistresses of Preparatory Schools, and ten years later moved its headquarters from Kensington to offices in Leamington Spa, before relocating again in 2021 to its current headquarters at Bishop's House, Artemis Drive, Tachbrook Park, Warwick CV34 6UD.
The first known private employment agency Robinson, Gabbitas & Thring, was founded in 1873 by John Gabbitas who recruited schoolmasters for public schools in England. [3] In the United States, the first private employment agency was opened by Fred Winslow who started an Engineering Agency in 1893.
