The team moved into Monclova Stadium on March 16, 1975, with a game between the Mineros and the Alijadores de Tampico. The team reached the playoffs for the first time in 1976, but were eliminated by Juárez. In 1980, the team changed their name to Acereros de Monclova and were led by manager Victor Favela.
