The Old Colony Cove Site is an archaeological site near Rose Haven in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The site consists of a shell midden and is 2,000 feet (610 m) long by 300 feet (91 m) wide. [2] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. [1]

The place names Musket's Cove and Mosquito have been used since about the 1630s to refer to the area now called Bristol's Hope (Seary 1971: 63). The community was renamed in 1904 to commemorate the 1617 outpost of that name, an offshoot of the John Guy colony established at Cupids, ten miles away, in 1610 (Dale 1981a).

William Colston (fl. 1610–1612) was an Englishman and one of the first settlers in the colony at Cuper's Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. [1]He was almost certainly a native of Bristol, England, and travelled to Newfoundland in 1610 as one of the first settlers in a scheme for the plantation of Newfoundland.
